Lusty
I've just been watching the news onThai TV. A monk has had to pack in the monkhood to take care of his sick Mum. I know Buddists monks aren't allowed to touch women but not being able to touch your own elderly Mother is a bit harsh, don't you think?::
Encore
You can go into and out of 'monkhood' from time to time in your life. Sometimes, some priorities weigh heavier than others. Where I live, men enter a one day ordination into monkhood, just to assist in the cremation/burial rites of their father or other close relative. The Buddha understands. Buddhism , for the little I know about it, can be quite pragmatic.
krml
I always wondered about that too. Considering Angelina Jolie said a monk did her tattoo on her back. How if they can't touch women or be touched by them? Always wondered about that.
Nervous_Dog
I undersatand that tatoo was a lucky one, but not made by a real thai monk, also made in Cambodia. Some subgroup. I rememeber recently reading a article about the bloke. DOG
