Jerusalem Artichokes

Jerusalem Artichokes, or Sunchokes as they are sometimes called, are one of my favourite vegetables, particularly roasted or cooked as a gratin. Are they available in LOS?

There's a lot of strange stuff comes up occasionally in the produce markets in the larger provincal centres, particularly in the Northern areas. We get a lot of "European" vegetables locally and they're usually grown by hills tribes people in the mountains around Chiang Rai. I've seen the bloody things some where and can't for the life of me remember where. (Laan beer). Just hit the market early every morning and you may get lucky. It's surprising what you see in the produce section of the supermarkets too.
