Steve
Forwards obviously get the public vote. If you score, no matter the sport, you are more in the public eye. On an Arsenal forum, I stated that Vieira was more instrumental and more influential to our side than Henry was, because he was a leader as well but Henry gets the vote because of his influence outside Arsenal. Vieira could take a game by the scruff of the neck both defensively and lead the attack. Oftentimes he'd not only take the ball off someone but maintain posession and start the counter. However, part of the reason many players sign for us is because of Henry. The first thing Theo Walcott asked Wenger was whether Henry is staying. Players want to play along side him and with him. Vieira though got us to where we are. Bergkamp signaled that we are a big club still after finishing 12th a season or two prior. Henry also brings people through the gates. Fair or unfair, strikers get the attention. It is what it is.
