Social_Norm
I take 2 phones with me to Thailand. My 3G phone and a spare 2G phone. I do this because I like to buy a Thai sim to use during my trip but I don't think it will work in my 3G handset. Is this the best solution or can I get a Thai sim to use in my 3G handset? Barry
If the 3g is sim locked, it won't work. Otherwise, it's just a phone without the 3g functions..
WorldFun
this probably belongs to technology section, but anyways as mentioned what matters is NOT whether your phone is 2G, 2.5G or 3G, but whether its SIM locked to a network outside of thailand Most 3G handsets should also accept 2G SIMs from Thailand as well
MooNoi
I have a 3G phone (Nokia N73) and it works with a Thai SIM no phom-phem at all. As PP stated, its about the SIM being locked, not the phone.
Hugh_Hoy
I have a Motorola with a 3 band; I just put in a One2Call sim in it and it works fine. HH
WorldFun
"its about the SIM being locked, not the phone." sorry to have to correct you here, but its the other way around One cannot lock a SIM. Its a subsidised phone thats being locked to a particular service provider & the SIM that goes with that service/network e.g. T-Mobile Germany!
