Guest
He just uses various psychological techniques, suggestion (NLP/mild hypnosis) mostly...you can find out about most of what he does by reading a good Psychology textbook...i used to do a lot of his shit when treating sex offenders/wife batterers/rapists/addicts etc....but i took a different angle, my aim was to enable people to do stuff themselves, predict behaviour and risk etc...he gets people do to what he wants, without them being aware of it. He's just very good at it....i love watching him, i'd also love him to try his stuff with me...it would be amusing.
McBif
I was pleasantly surprised to see that he explains (the obvious) at the end of the video how he won the simultaneous chess display (won 4, lost 3, drew 2 or something): He simply played 8 of the masters against each other (in other words, 4 pairs of games were identical to each other) and against the 9th guy (the weakest and only untitled player) he mangaged a win. The very presence of the untitled guy should give warning. Rather lame the pathetic gosh-wow stuff from the players. A crock. Every one of them would have known from the start what he was doing: In a simul the master ALWAYS takes the white pieces. Here, he alternates - a pure giveaway, considering the quality of the opposition. When he's black, he looks at the white players' first move, and moves on to the other tables BEFORE HE REPLIES - another giveaway, if more were needed. As for his "psychic" prediction of how many total pieces his opponents would have left on the boards at the end of the simul, that would've been a matter of a quick switch of the "magic envelope" after the number was actually known. Again, pathetic and sad to see the GMs (Grandmasters) and FMs (FIDE Masters - Federations Internationale des Echecs) oohing and aweing. Serious chess players tend to be poor and very sad people... junglesoup
what i like about this guy is that he goes out of his way to expose the psychics etc. he did a good show in america where he exposed the instant conveters etc, basically took the piss out of them. he is an excellent show man above all else. Ckrisg
Darren Brown lost a lot of fans/airtime in the UK following a bullshit suicide trick on TV.
