POWER: GORE MANSION USES 20X AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD; CONSUMPTION INCREASE AFTER 'TRUTH'

26 Feb 2007

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:

----------------------------------------------

Last night, Al Goreâ??s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Goreâ??s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWhâ??more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWhâ??guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Goreâ??s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Goreâ??s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Goreâ??s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Goreâ??s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

â??As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,â? said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

ummm , if he uses private jets to go around the country and "preach" I wonder what that does?

He needs to by an old Greyhound bus and run it on Willie fuel, Bio-diesel by Willie Nelson company (I think Willie is part owner),

I think its a bunch of hype myself , but what do I know :) , I do not have an Oscar !

1. the estate houses him & his offices + secret service + other living quarters on the premise.

2. there is an apparent 100% surcharge in Tennessee if one requires 'green' energy. The report is his 'carbon foot print' is lower than average for the sq ' he maintains.

he paid over $7k extra because he required green sources. (? thats what the TV said, how it is done is for another episode)

3. the 'non partisan group' that distributed the report is an extension of the American Enterprise Institute .. as ultra conservative & anti-green as is humanly possible.

any one who has lived in the southern US has had utilities of over $500 for 6 months of the year .. even small homes.

And let's not forget John Edwards' recently built $200,000 heated enclosed walkway between two buildings on (one of his?) estate(s).

A little old but perhaps even better is Hollywood "progressive" Barbara Streisand's flight in her private jet from California to Washington to discuss the "environment" with President Clinton.

Hey, if I had $$$ coming out of my ass I might consider building $200,000 heated walkways, but then I don't pretend to believe the sort of drivel ALpocalypse Gore and his pals are peddling.
