Fascist America, in 10 easy steps

In theory yes, but frankly civil and personal freedoms has been slowly eroding for years now. Sometimes faster than others. However, things don't seem as bad as the '50s and prior when you had committees caled 'un american activities' and congressmen were routinely asked to take a 'loyalty oath'. This was the cold war and everyone or a lot of folks thought communism was a valid enough threat to destroy our way of life.

We've replaced communism with islamic fundamentalism to a certain extent. Both were legit fears, understanding it, its real threat and not perceived threat and how we deal with it, remains the problem.

Its interesting though that if the left thinks the right will turn us into a fascist state, having as much as 70 million citizens with fire arms presently may be the last defense against such a state.

Of course the right thinks the left will turn the US into a socialist state or hand it over to the UN. I'm guessing most of the guns are held by the right.

Mixture. Michigan (car makers), Pennsylvania (coal, steel) and a lot of states that have a lot of trade unions and are staunchly democrat are hunters as well. Ohio, Penna. Michigan, the '

Rust Belt' states are very union and hunting season is big as well. In fact, a lot of factories would let off early in the old days on the first day of hunting season. They were called 'Reagan democrats' in the '80s because they voted for him against the party line. I lived in a heavily black and latino neighborhood as a child, 99% democrat and plenty of guns...admittedly, a lot of illegal...hehehehe.

Its like relgion on politics. The big white fundamentalist churches are republican, the big black baptist churches and big roman catholic northern churches (italian, irish, puerto rican, some polish constituents)are staunchly democrat.

LOL...Chuck, you're right. The extreme of both parties are convinced we're either going to be a socialist state or a fascist state. Most of the time I find myself trying to stop either from taking away what little rights I have left.
