Steve Posted June 19, 2007 Report Share Posted June 19, 2007 NYC Mayor Bloomberg, leaves the Republican party. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070619/ap_on_el_pr/bloomberg_politics Like most NYC republicans (and some governors) they are descendents of what are called 'Rockerfeller Republicans', after former governor, Nelson Rockerfeller, who had a lot of policies that fit in more with democrats than republicans.
