Guy Himmaparn
Could have been terrorism. Old Man Mississippi or faulty maintenence gets my vote... not as headline-grabbing but much more likely.
Guest lazyphil
maybe the salt they use up in the road/bridge frigid north of minnesota could be a cause?

cavanami
In another thread on this subject they talk about 70,000 bridges in the USA that are in poor repair...but we have money to pump into Iraq...ohhh, no money to fix the levees in New Orleans, but give that $4,000,000,000 to Haliburton over in Iraq! Let's see, terrorists are killing USA citizens...WTF is the US gov doing by NOT fixing these bridges?
OCgringo
or subsities to the corn farmers.... What pisses me off is that all the fuel we buy has a tax on it that was suppposed to go to roads, Well that never gets spent on USA roads, I guess now its for Iraqs roads OC

cavanami
OK...we are in the USA and money talks and lawyers file law suits...waaaaaaaaay past time to start filing law suits against these lazy azz politicians...let's call it "failure to perform assigned/elected duties"? Hang a few...throw a few in prison...some nice multi-million dollar fines (and really use the money to fix the bridges or whatever is best for the *** real *** people)....oppppppps, this is logically, this may make a bit of sense...can't do that
bjon045
Sad indeed. I would think that kind of thing would be more common in Thailand but surprisingly it's quite rare that I hear about a bridge/elevated road collapsing.
Guy Himmaparn
Yeah, falling down buildings are more their thing. Perhaps most of their larger bridges were constructed later and thus haven't had time to deteriorate as much as this one did?
