Flashermac
Cambridge Evening News 31 Aug 2007 Man is cleared in fight with bat A MAN accused of hitting his neighbour with a baseball bat so hard it broke in two has walked free from court after being cleared by a jury. Ian Bennett-Hayward pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, claiming it was self-defence. Throughout his four-day trial he denied starting the incident outside his home in Haverhill, which left the neighbour suffering a head injury. Bennett-Hayward, 23, of Trefoil Court, Haverhill, said he had been defending himself in a struggle with Nicholas Vaughan in February. In his defence, Bennett-Hayward said he had been the innocent party when Mr Vaughan arrived at his door instigating violence. He said claims he struck Mr Vaughan from behind with a baseball bat were untrue.

sayjann
but what is a baseball bat?. many types of bats are available to buy and could be described as a baseball bat,it could have been a softball bat. and don't forget the Brits like to play baseball and American Football for fun. http://www.baseballandsoftball.co.uk/index.php?cat=BATS&ActinicSID=b35e99553e8bbbf185af2a1f14bfef56
torrenova
I made my first baseball bat in woodwork / metalwork after my requests for throwing knives and stars were rejected as "unsuitable". It had more than one outing !
Julian2
Must have been crap timber, I thought baseball bats were lethal.
sayjann
i suppose it depends on how hard and how many times you hit the other Guy.... i certainly wouldn't bother with one swing.... after all in Baseball you allowed 3 attempts to hit the ball. Flashermac
Maybe he hit the guy on the trademark. That's a big no-no. Often breaks the bat, especially on a thick skull.
sayjann
you ever seen a cricket bat split in 2 when it connects with a ball fired at over 90 Miles an Hour?.
Flashermac
Nope, but that cricket ball is damn near lethal. I'd hate to be hit with one. The trademark on a baseball shows the direction of the grain. You're suppose to turn the trademark up when you bat.
