canned corned beef - English?

The word "corn" refers to a brining (Salt water) process, nothing to do with the vegetable corn.

US corned beef is usually a slab of beef flank or briscut that has undergone the brining process.

Simmered corn beef and cabbage with carrots and quartered potatoes thrown in has long been called a "New England Boiled Dinner"

I hated it as a kid but grew to love it as an adult.
