wonderlust
My plan is to get a triple entry tourist visa in the UK. When you apply you need an "Air ticket paid in full". Would there be any problem if my air ticket had a return date 9 months after the leaving date or don't they really check up on your plans for leaving Thailand when granting the visa? wonderlust
Why have so many people been fretting about the new visa rules when you can just get a multiple entry O visa with very little hassle in your home country and get a year in Thailand with a couple of visa runs? Neo
Because not everyone is 50+ / married to a thai?
wonderlust
You don't have to be to get a multiple entry O visa. It's available to practically anyone as long as you apply in your home country.
Neo
You might be surprised then. I have contacted many different consulates over time including so called "good ones" in the USA. Each and every one refused to offer the O visa. They say 3x tourist visa is all I qualify for.
cardinalblue
I think that is hogwash also. Only the tourist visa is readily available to the average joe.. If the type "O" was available, then everyone would have it which we know that is not the case... Under 50, and no connections to thailand, you are coming over on a tourist visa.... YimSiam
Unless you're willing to lie and commit fraud... which is not exactly everyone's cup of tea...
wonderlust
No need to commit fraud - "extended stay" and "to visit family or friends" are both reasons for being granted a multiple entry O visa in the UK. I assumed it was not an option because of what has been said on this forum but over at thaivisa they recommended it and having looked at the application form it seems pretty hard to screw up. No need for supporting documentation - just fill in the form, pay the fee and the visa's yours.
Dexi
Last time I applied for a double entry TR from a UK consulate ( last year ) there was no mention of any need to show an air ticket...are you sure on this or have the rules changed ? YimSiam
I stand corrected - I always thought you'd need some documentation and all, and that friends and tourist-type visit wouldn't be enough. Learn something new everyday! Well, almost everyday...
