racha
This an interesting article re-Patpong http://www.bangkokpost.com/today/130801_News05.html I suspect 2.00am closing will be inforced for now but i can not agree with the panic of most people that the sanuk scene is coming to an end.Its just another crackdown they go round and this one is a bit more serious than normal as it is from higher up. Seems that the drug problem is more what they are after than the actual bar scene. Racha
phiketpete
I particularly like the line in the article "The Interior Minister did not want entertainment venues to become havens of vice" Duh!!
Guest
Thanks, Racha. I missed that this morning. Indicates it isn't just the Farangs they are after. In the words of Mark Twain "We wouldn't worry so much how people think about us if we realized how seldom they do." They are really serious about closing times all over the city. When several Nana Plaza owners approached the police last week to see if they could open on the Queens Birthday, as they did last year...The answer was "Anybody open and go to jail for two weeks....no exceptions". Very unThai.
