Mentors
Khun Red Sledeghammer quits! Chuwit resigns from Chart Thai party (BangkokPost.com) - Deputy Chart Thai party leader Chuwit Kamolvisit announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday, saying that he cannot accept political stance of party leader Banharn Silpa-archa who ended political hook-up with Democrat party. His resignation is announced through advertisements in several local newspapers in the afternoon. On Tuesday, Mr Chuwit strongly criticised Mr Banharn, saying his lack of commitment to Democrat party shows that he can join hands with either the People Power party or the Democrat party, whichever has more seats. "This is dangerous," he said. "I can only say that a politician like this is dangerous." Mr Banharn earlier announced his party will work with the Democrats, the arch rival of People Power party. It was only recently that he decided to end the alliance, saying Chart Thai will not join forces with anyone until after the election. http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_news/breakingnews.php?id=124022

Mentors
PPP in the lead but outcome unclear: Abac Poll Although some 73 per cent intend to cast ballots on December 23, almost 47 per cent are undecided on a favouraite party for proportionate voting and about 39 per cent have not picked their favourite candidates for direct voting, Abac Poll said on Thursday. Of the 80 House seats from partylists, the People Power Party is projected to win 39, followed by the Democrat Party (33). Other four parties, Puea Pandin, Chart Thai, Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana and Pracharaj, will grab a total of eight seats. A margin of error is about plus or minus five seats due to a large number of the undecided. The opinion survey was conducted on 9,698 respondents, including 2,109 local leaders in Tambon and Provincial Administrative Organisations, in 33 selected provinces between November 20 and December 5. Local leaders ranked the PPP as the most active in campaigning , followed the Democrats, Matchima Thipataya, Chart Thai, Puea Pandin, Ruam Jai Chart Pattana and Pracharaj. They also estimated a voting turnout of 67.9 per cent. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2007/12/06/politics/politics_30058389.php
Flashermac
Pracharaj is Sombat Methinee's party. I like Sombat. He was a leading man in the 1970s, is still a fine character actor and is about as honest as you get in Thai politics. But it's a very minor political party. Mentors
yes there are sometimes small partys with serious political programs. I remember Bichit's Motherland Party, but it was banned because they lost a term for registration or something like that in 2001. btw, is any Green Party around? Flashermac
None that I know of. Thais are Buddhists, remember. They love nature and are forbidden to kill anything.
Mentors
Banharn ends tie with Thaksin (BangkokPost.com) - Chart Thai party leader Banharn Silpa-archa announced Thursday he decided to end tie with ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra because he never keeps a promise to stay out of politics. Mr Banharn said Mr Thaksin never stops engaging in politics "not even a second." He also said he read a news report on Mr Thaksin, who said he no longer remembers Mr Banharn. He said he used to think about "Nong Thaksin" (meaning Brother Thaksin). But since the deposed premier does not remember him, he will not think about him anymore. http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_news/breakingnews.php?id=124413
