Flashermac
Alarmed by the prospect of global warming triggering a rise in sea levels, disaster prevention experts and a local political group called for the construction of a 100-billion-baht flood prevention wall to save the capital from being inundated. The call was made at a seminar on climate change and its impact on Bangkok held yesterday by the Bangkok 50 group, a political clan run by members of the now-defunct Thai Rak Thai party (TRT). Chalitrat Chandrubeksa, the group's acting leader, said it would launch a signature campaign to get 50,000 names to push for the project. It would also try to convince the next government to give the go-ahead to the project. Mr Chalitrat, a former TRT member, said the next government should not delay the decision as it would take up to eight years to build the city flood wall. Faustian
They've probably bought the seabed already at knock down prices. Plans for condos along the dam ready to be submited...i wonder if they'll be cracks in the dam too!

Julian2
Move the Capital to Chiang Rai. The new bar area could be set 20kms south of the city center where some nice land is available at reasonable prices. At least one farang down that way would be only too pleased to offer his services as a consultant expert on flood free zones. (Buy my wife's mountain blocks dummy!) Flashermac
Chiang Rai is too cold. Pattani is a better choice.
Julian2
If it's too cold why do the rich Bangkok Thais build holiday houses up here? Buy now before the prices sky rocket. (Land Investment Service Available).

Julian2
Five Rai's not a bad block, a little bit of subdivision and you could be in clover.
