Man at Work
Hi Folks, can anyone suggest a place where there is good Country music (preferrably LIVE, but a good Wurlitzer would do too)played in Bangkok. Not just the old goddies from the 40ths but stuff like Clint Black, Trisha Yearwood, Garth etc.? Thanks for your Help and have a great 2002. 35 days left! Lamock Chokaprret
I'm not sure if I would call it good but... The Country Roads on the Asoke end of Soi Cowboy has a live band, at least on weekends, and seems to have a passable selection. I'm not much up on country though so don't blame me if it isn't to your liking. The good part is that if you don't like it, you can always change your venue after about a 10 second walk. Straycat
Ok -- I've never been there, but according to my prejudice, wouldn't Washington Square (up on Sukhumvit) be a place where they play country-music? Straycat
Lamock Chokaprret
K.S. may be right. I recall seeing a place up there called the Silver Dollar Saloon or some such. Sounds like a perfect venue for that kind of music. Can't vouch for what it might offer though since I've never been inside.
Pom_Jao_Choo
I think you are HUGELY in luck. Thai people have their own variety of country music (sometimes called mar-lum), that I am certain you will agree is far superior to what you have been acustomed! Of course does everybody have a diffrent tast of music (Thank god! ) And "good Country Music" does not indicate "good music = Country Music" but "good Country Music vs. bad Country Music". And this again is defined by WHAT they are playing and HOW they are playing. Agreed? Thanks for the advice to all the rest of you. Have a great day. 31 days left!!
