The security forces will continue to operate with almost complete impunity, and the victims' families will be unable to move forward with their lives," Amnesty International said today. On this day in 1992 the security forces opened fire at head height on thousands of unarmed demonstrators in the streets of Bangkok. Forty-four people were killed and at least 38 "disappeared", although the number could be much higher. None of the bodies of those who went missing have been found.
