My dad was post commander around that time, back when eveybody was a vet (even rich folks' kids). I still buy the poppies here every 11 November. Money goes for disabled Thai vets - who like as not were conscripts (draftees) just as my father and I. (My grandfather was drafted in WWI, one of the first 500 men called up in Cook County.
