Flashermac
Should have MADE them keep Detroit ! p.s. That wasn't the last time either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_York The US captured Toronto (York) and the Brits captured Washington. Should have left it that way. We could have swapped political leaders and come out better off. Wanna talk about ass kicking, look at this one. It was Wellington's veterans who got whomped by ... untrained militia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_New_Orleans
FreeTime
According to this report from the CBC, the major uranium miner Cameco was involved: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/07/05/saddam-uranium.html
Bangkoktraveler
Cameco Corp. bought the uranium for tens of millions of dollars. They don't want to say exactly what the yellow cake cost them. 550 metric ton with yellow cake uranium going for about $58.00 a pound means they bought $70 million dollars of yellow cake hopefully for a good price. Julian2
A masterpiece of military incompetence. It was certainly out of character for Keane who had commanded a battalion under Wellington in Spain and later went onto military glory in India. I seems to have been a command by committee thing which I'm sure you will agree is not always the best way to fight a battle or a war. Maybe Keane should have taken Richard Sharpe with him. FreeTime
Out on the west coast, the 'Pig War': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_War This one was resolved prior to shots being fired.
Khun_Kong
Hope the US are going to compensate Iraq for the "yellowcake" otherwise wouldnt this be stealing? Let's just consider it a downpayment on all of that oil money that's going to start arriving any decade now to reimburse us for the reconstruction costs, as BushCo has told has many times. Morons. Flashermac
Out on the west coast, the 'Pig War': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_War This one was resolved prior to shots being fired. I'd forgotten about that one. I always liked the Maine border dispute. Seems the American government found they had a map that supported the British claim, and the Brits found they had a map supporting the American claim. They happily split the disputed territory down the middle.

The story go's that Keane was so shocked at the Yanks spelling (colour/color, favourite / favorite etc) that he told his troops to pull out. Alledgedly he was heard to comment "These savages have us beat lads, how can we educate such barbarians, send me to India". Of course it's probably not true
