DocThai
I will be moving from Bangkok to Khon Kaen and even though I will not be moving any real furniture I have more than will fit in a covered pickup truck. The only moving company I found was JVK and they want 18,000 baht. Anyone have any ideas? I am also looking for some packing supplies, like sturdy boxes (U-Haul type) and some wardrobe boxes although those may not be available here
dddave
Don't know about movers but there is a good shophouse box factory close to the Phra Khanong BTS. Take exit# 3, at base of stairs, walk in the direction of traffic on Sukhumvit and turn left at the FAMILY MART at soi 69. Walk about 200M and turn right just past the snooker hall. The factory is about 100M on the right. Many sizes in stock, sturdy and well made. I directed a friend there who had to ship a bunch of computer gear back to the US and he was very happy with the boxes they made for him. They can arrange delivery if too many for a taxi. Julian2
Why don't you look for a removalist in Khon Kaen? If they come to BKK regularly they will be more than happy to give you a good price on a back load.
samak
http://www.deemove.com/ on this site prices for different sizes of trucks: you choose the province where you want to move and it shows prices (for truck and driver only; packers and movers extra) http://www.deemove.com/tuck.html
samak
so for doc thai to Khonkaen smallest truck is 8300
DocThai
If only I could read Thai to navigate through that site. If the 8,300 is just a covered pickup it will probably be too small.
samak
the other bigger trucks are 14k, 15k and 19.7k (Bangkok-Khonkaen)
