CTO
Snakehead fish still used in our area's during rice season. Interesting also rice price means nothing to many in our area as rice is grown for substance only - not for sale no matter what the price - plots to small to grow excess rice - only one rice season a year. Central Scrutinizer
CTO, Same in my area. Most rice is grown to sustain the family and extended family. Everyone gets some rice after the harvest. Even my wife gets a few big bags (although we help by cooking fods for the family and hired rice workers lunch, throw in some beers as well and ice). Some of the rice, if there is a surplus, is sold to get some cash to buy stuff, and some sold to get money to have what is needed for the next season's rice crop. tartempion
CTO,[color:blue]"Buffalo's working - only when reporters come out."[/color] To this day, after all the years up here in Isaan, I have never seen a water buffalo used for plowing, and there are many buffalos around here that could be used. Cent Every morning starting at 6 am these days, the guy from which I bought the land my house resides on ploughs a plot with his water buffalo. That's a few meter from my fence

Flashermac
I saw farmers ploughing with them all the time, buffaloes pulling carts too. Of course, that was 30 years ago.
