Barry
A slightly bizarre one, but I think it's for real. http://www.aftenposten.no/reise/nyheter/article2574065.ece (In Norwegian) http://www.krabi-airline.com/
elef
Even if Don Muang (sorry they changed the spelling but I don't change) is still a international airport, there's no passport control or customs. (One of my friends is a immigration officer and her husband is a department manager in special branch so I would now.) So if going back to farangland is probably from BKK. They need to recruit 300 passport officers and 300 custom's officer's to re-open Don Muang as international airport they told me.
Barry
Is via Krabi so maybe they do it there.
dddave
That sure looks like one of Phuket Air's or Orient Thai's ancient 747-200s---they couldn't pay me enough to climb aboard.
Barry
They reckon the actual plane is a 747-400 (ex UAL). The mockup seems to have non-matching engines...

Krabi airport has been international for some time now, and since the new terminal opened last year has seen an increase in direct Scandinavian flights. Now it appears the Thais are offering their own flights, no doubt at much lower fares.
USVirgin
I'm surprised Krabi has such a long runway to handle heavy aircraft. Was it used for military purposes in the past?
elef
"The office is at Don Mueang, not the flights." Can you tell me why they take the flight to a domestic airport if they can't take new passengers on the long leg home???
Guy Himmaparn
Sorry, I was under the impression that the flights were direct from Europe to Krabi and back again (both non-stop). Is that not the case? The way the Krabi area is growing I'm sure that airport will eventually equal or surpass Phuket's in traffic.
Barry
I believe the DMK stop is to refuel as a full 747 can't take off from Krabi. I struggle to see that many people wanting to fly the route.
