I struggle to see that many people wanting to fly the route.

 

Visit Koh Lanta any time during high season and you'll see the potential. Scandinavians have essentially taken over the island and each year the traffic increases... from 5 to 10 percent occupancy post-tsunami to fully-booked in a few short years. Hotel construction is booming so the possibilities of filling more seats is certainly there, especially if the fares are low as most of the tourists seem to be young families on package tours.
