Flashermac
They were infidels. They have no rights a believer need respect. p.s. There was violence back in the 1970s, though nothing like it has been since Mr T stirred them up.
Paillote
I really understand that pictures like these are not exposed in general media and I think that is for the better. Then again, if pictures like these were more widely published there might be a stronger reaction to terrorist acts, even from muslims themselves and the terrorist might loose the backing/recruiting they have. As it is now, a text only article about people killed by terrorists hardly rises an eyebrow anywhere anymore. Paillote
Flashermac
Even the Thai language papers have toned down their gory pics in recent years. You won't see these on the front page of Thai Rot or Daily News.
shygye
When was the last time a USA media outlet has shown a dead soldier or coffin?
Flashermac
Vietnam War? It was very popular with the media back then. TV news used to show GIs and Vietnamese getting killed in living colour. Sometimes US families even saw their son or father getting blown away on their own TV. p.s. Plenty of pics of flag drapped coffins from Iraq though.
shygye
Only when the coffin gets to the cemetery. There is a blackout for showing coffins in Iraq, on air transport, and at unloading back in the States.
Flashermac
Bush has learned then. TV is what won the war for Hanoi. The procession of daily and weekly casualties made people want to quit the war. The US lost over 36,000 dead in Korea, but nobody saw pics or film of them. It wasn't until fairly late in WWII that pics of dead GIs were allowed.
