Guest
I have often read recently on various boards on Thailand that teaching is the only work sensibly possible for a farang in Thailand. Is this true ???? I have also read that one should be very careful doing business in Thailand and that running a bar can be a head-ache in more ways than one ! Teaching is not the best paid job in the world and I don't think should be undertaken unless one is a real teacher in the first place. i.e don't do it just because you want to stay in Thailand do it because it is a job you like. So what are the alternatives ? Don't listen to Boris as he spends his time doing dodgy deals and duckin' & divin' . Rolex, jeans ,trainers, you know the sort! Mobile stuck to his lughole gold chains etc etc What's this Amway he keeps talkin' abart ! All seems very difficult. Great Country shame about the work ! Guest
I have found that there is always work for good people. Yes, 100% correct. I just like to extend it: it is also about what kind of education is needed right now. Even I know that I am stirring up something know I like to put it down: the guys who open a bar, restaurant or doing some windy import / export business are doing this mainly for the reason to stay in Thailand not because they are learnd cooks, or concierces or bartender etc. etc. Most of the guys I know, having a falang Restaurant hardly know how to prepare a "Quiche" (that's maybe why you hardly find it on the menue). Serious, how many of these guys really worked before in this business? I don't know, but the handful I know personally never stayed in touch with it before. Conclusion: The hardest but smartest way is to find out what kind of specialist Thailand has a shortage. If you stay in this range look around for an emploie whowill fix the rest for you. The easier way is if you work for a company which is opening or has a plant in Thailand and to apply internally for some job, maybe you are lucky. Or like pointed out before, build up relations and maybe you find somebody who hires you doesn't matter what kind of profession you might have. This way you are granted a peacefull time in Thailand without lots of paper hassels (done by the company on your behalf). All other ways are of course possible but not that easy.
