Redbaron
In case you haven't noticed, people like Whoopie Goldberg and Tilda Swinton have spoken out in his defense. Amongst many others... To be honest I am amazed and shocked at how many people have been calling for his release since he did plead guilty and flee, and if flash's post of what happened is even a little bit true, it was a serious crime. Will be interesting to see how many of these celebraties eat their words later, or will they continue to call for his freedom.. They are risking their reputaions - a lot of them are well known and respected actors etc. Time will tell.

I think most of them didn't have clue about the severity of his crime 30 years ago. Now, as more and more dirty details emerge, those actors, artists and tv personalities are damaging their liberal image and paint themselves as out of touch with the law and 'real' life. kamui
Switzerland denies Polanski bail Film-maker Roman Polanski has been denied bail ahead of his possible extradition to the US, the Swiss Justice Ministry has said. Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said the government maintains there is a high risk Polanski may flee if released from custody. Polanski is being held in Switzerland over his 1977 conviction for unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl. He left the US in 1978 before he could be sentenced and has never returned. Polanski was detained in Switzerland on 26 September as he travelled from France to collect a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich Film Festival. Release call "In our view, there is still a very high risk that he will flee and that a release on bail or other measures after a release cannot guarantee Polanski's presence in the extradition procedure," Mr Galli said.
