My father was a teenager in the Illinois NG in the late 1930s - 131st Illinois Infantry Regiment, if I remember right. He told me the mayor of Chicago always had a signed order from the governor in his desk, thanks to the city's brutal race riots at the end of WWI. Their riot control drill consisted of forming ranks with their unloaded Springfield M1903 rifle with fixed bayonet! When clearing an area, you advanced in close order with your bayonet at the ready. If anybody got stuck, it meant they had refused to move or had attacked the troops. Nobody gets shot and probably nobody gets killed.

I accidentally came across a survey once, done by genuine professors of penisology.

I distinctly remember the ranking being Arab, Australian, Congolese.... right down to Conservative voting Englishmen followed by AngloSaxon Americans at the bottom.
