Chairman of the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship Veera Musikhapong is now holding secret peace talks with the government and the discussion’s initial outcome was encouraging, UDD co-leader Weng Tojirakarn said on Monday.

“Mr Veera had sent a letter to UDD core leaders insisting that he is still performing his duty as a co-leader and is now discussing with representatives of the government how to rapidly end political crisis,†Mr Weng said.

He confirmed the UDD demands for the government to stop using force, pull back the troops and allow the UN to mediate truce talks to end the escalating political problem.

Mr Weng said there were no war weapons at the Ratchaprasong rally site as claimed by the government. However, he admitted that UDD core leaders could not control their supporters outside the Ratchaprasong intersection area.

He also admitted that a number of red-shirts wanted to leave the rally site and some of them have moved into the nearby Wat Pathum Wanaram.

But this had no effect on the rally as most red-shirts still back the UDD, he said.

Rink :hmmm:

I think the radicals are holding Veera somewhere to keep him from making public statements about what actually happened last weekend when the deal went south.

Or he is hiding out (or left the country) in fear for his life. One theory going around about Seh Deang is was shot to shut him about Thaksin controlling everything. Remember, Sah Deans came out and said the moderates were out and the radical were in charge per orders from Thaksin. That same night, he was shot.
