Flashermac
Sent to me by a friend and former board member: ------------- Sawasdee Khrap Everyone, Things have calmed down in and around the Nana Hotel... maybe too calm. Only 90 guests (down from 300) registered now (5pm Tuesday). The cocktail lounge had no sales Sat, Sun or Monday - only drinks served were the free drinks redeemed by newly arrived guests with couponss. Hotel staff is OK and no longer 'camping out' on the property. Some people fear the Red Shirts will return to 'make more fires' in Bangkok. The Thai troops have earned respect from many Bangkok citizens for their conduct and the security they provided. Around #20, Soi 3, soldiers and a rowdy group of Red shirts had a 'battle' when the Reds were stopped on their way to burn one or more hotels (JW Marriot, Nana and/or The Landmark). Bumrungrad Hospital survived the disorders intact. It is time to return Bangkok and the Nana - they could use the business.

Bangkoktraveler
Marriot near Suk 1 has always seemed to have had high security every once in a while. Surprise people stay there.
doxx
Marriott on Suk 1 is superb (just a general observation) and I've stayed there a few times. I was in the Sushi restaurant last week and they (Marriott) have really beefed up security. Metal detectors are now joined by an airport type luggage xray scanner. Felt like walking into the US embassy
