tartempion
If you ever traveled to Portugal you MUST know that bakery delicatesse called pasteis de nata or pasteis de Belem, invented by nuns in the monastery of Jeronimos in Belem, now part of Lisbon city, in English egg tart. Once you tasted one, your life is no longer the same, idem for real French croissants. I never found an edible croissant in Thailand, nor in any other country, same goes for bagette, even in Vientiane they don't come close. A few months ago I found pasteis de nata somewhere in Thailand, forgot where because they were not worth consuming, must be around Udon Thani because I live here. Thus yesterday in Udon Thani's Charoensri shopping mall saw pasteis de nata on display, 25b each and 135 for 6. Bought 6 and went for lunch at the food court. Ate two whilst GF went to catch food. DELICIOUS, they still were hot, fresh from the oven. OK, I left two for the GF. If they make them the same all over KFC Thailand, then run to get some Google pasteis de nata and check images or look here http://img64.imageshack.us/i/eggtart.jpg/ Some look really bad on Google, should look yellow like on page 5, second pic. Nervous God
I do like these, in Australia I bought them at the either the Chinese bakery or the Portuguese bakery, both tasted similar!
Pom Michael
Lots of sugar in the KFC ones - but agreed they taste pretty good.
eyebee
The best I ever found was in Macau (a former Portuguese colony). There is a street leading up to the ruins of St Paul's where every shop seems to sell only egg custard tarts and dried meats!
