Horneytorney
read somewhere that the majority of the policemen on duty in the 5 most southern province were posted there as disciplinary action or due to insufficient performance at their former location. so do such incidents then come as a surprise? Bangkoktraveler
Sounds like somebody didn't get promoted before he retired. I guess now he will not get his retirement.
Flashermac
Dead people usually don't get pensions. Everyone involved in it was a senior sergeant major, the highest enlisted rank in the police. A commission as a sub-lieutenant for them is simply an honour, a pat on the back and a slightly higher pension. My first thought was that the gunman had been passed over for it. Unloading on your comrades with a military weapon is a bit of an overreaction though. BTW Phatthalung is not in the Muslim-majority border provinces. It is north of Songkla and about 90% Buddhist.
