Boo Radley
'Al-Qaeda' issues Thaksin threat Published: 28 Jul 2013 at 00.30 A YouTube video claiming to be an al-Qaeda threat against fugitive ex-premier Thaksin was removed by the video service on Saturday as too violent, and then appeared again hours later. The 2-minute, 45-second video is entitled "Al-Qaeda video against former Thailand Prime Minister". It showed three men in Arab-type clothing, one armed with either a rifle or a replica, with the "leader" reading a death threat. The third man held a photo of Thaksin. The English language commentary included threats to kill Thaksin, "to avenge the killing of Muslims in the South in 2004". It referred to the killings at Tak Bai district town, while Thaksin was premier. "We will get you any time, anywhere in the world," said the threat. There was no other context provided in the video. The first upload to YouTube was removed after a few hours with the notice: "This video has been removed as a violation of YouTube's policy on violence". It appeared again from a different uploader several hours after that. Southern militants have denied they have any connections with al-Qaeda or similar foreign terrorist groups. The first attempt to upload the video failed when YouTube removed it from public view. Composite screen caps by BangkokPost.com Found a working link to the video here - until Youtube delete it again. English audio starts at 1:39s. Probably a fake though!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CImmXvVXlNI http://www.bangkokpo...-thaksin-threat
Flashermac
It could be genuine. I have ridden with a few Muslim taxi drivers who absolutely detested Takky. These were Bangkok Muslims, not from the South. But they told me he was a terrible man who had killed so many of their Muslim brothers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNWiH2S2XkI

Plainsdrifter
No, they are male. The speaker is probably Yemenite or from the ME. The guy in the middle is not speaking so where they actually are from may even be South Asia or Thailand even.
Flashermac
The PT government's spokesbeing has proclaimed it a fake, created by the "white mask" anti-Thaksin group. Naturally, he gives absolutely nothing to back this up. Others are claiming the Takkyites created it to gain sympathy for Than Phu Nam. Most folks are hoping it is genuine. Boo Radley
I asked someone who speaks Arabic about the video. They said he's speaking Arabic with what seems like a Pakistani accent. They couldn't get some of the words, but it broadly matches the English translation in the 2nd part of the video.
kamui
Whoever produced this video, it plays in the hands of the radicals on both sides unfortunately.

Arabic and Urdu are 2 very totally different languages.
Boo Radley
I understood it to mean the Arabic had an accent in the same vay a German speaking English might haf en akzent. Hope zis is clear. I guess they could also have been referring to the English section, which seemed to have a Pakistani accent too.
