Any one know of a good place to find southern thai food in Bangkok? And I don't mean muslim.

I met a girl who recently moved here from the south (krabi) and she was asking me of all people. Big brownie points if I could tell her where...........

Hualumphong Food Station in Suk Soi 34 (I think you have to follow the small soi through from Soi 26 near Taurus, but there are signs) serves food from all regions of Thailand in a lovely, airy environment. Big place, big menu, smallish prices. Review at:

I know you said 'NOT Muslim' but presumably Thai Muslim food is southern Thai food - what other sort of dishes are you talking about? Anyway, Metro's website lists 13 at:

I've never seen anywhere in particular that is noted for southern Thai food. But you will often find a southern food vendor in some of those malls that are often inside department stores.

p.s. For those who don't know, southern Thai food usually is HOT! It also may have an Indian/Muslim influence, e.g. satay and Khao Moke Gai (chicken cooked with saffron rice -- good stuff!). Malaysians and Indonesians make satay with chicken, since they are mostly Muslims. Southern Thais (Buddhists) may well make it with pork. (It's that grilled meat on a stick that's served with a peanut sauce and chopped veggies.) Southern Thais also are big on seafood.
