cavanami
IMO, the only way Takky will be able to return to LOS, other then in handcuffs, will be for a certain person to be no longer in LOS. The No Name Book gave quite a history of the various relationships of various people in LOS.
radioman
Whilst I wouldn't consider it authoritative it is almost certainly required reading for anyone wanting to get a start in what is at play here.
cavanami
It provided 100's of years of LOS history, quite good.
Flashermac
A lot of it BS and personal opinion. Even pinko Dr. Gi Unpakorn disagrees with parts of the interpretation. I can pick holes in parts of it myself, since I was here at the time (now not 100 years ago!) while the author is relaying on 2nd and 3rd hand information at best. radioman
I had a good friend, sadly no longer with us, who knew a number of people on the fringes of some of the tales recounted therein. There is certainly enough in it that bits definitely are factual though I'm with Flash and think there's plenty of supposition. You could probably spend a good few years checking all the references. Flashermac
I consider it a mixture of fact and personal opinion guess work. Unfortunately, too many people view it as the gospel, even though parts of it are demonstrably wrong.
cavanami
Who can write in a 100% unbiased manner? most likely no one as everyone has opinions and history is often gray in many areas. The police are well aware of working with eye-witnesses to a crime and getting variations of the "facts". I would say, some writers and history is related better then others...but that is my opinion...
Flashermac
<< Who can write in a 100% unbiased manner? >> Now compound matters by having most of the source material in a language the writer cannot read or understand!
gobbledonk
Flasher taught Jim Thompson his ABC's at one of the first English language schools in Bangkok (OK - that's less than a hundred years ago, but not by much !)
Flashermac
Nah, I taught Dan Beach Bradley the Thai alphabet.
