waerth
District chiefs want to step down after advance voting fiasco http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/District-chiefs-want-to-step-down-after-advance-vo-30225409.html The February 2 election in Bangkok has run into a snag with 50 district chiefs wanting to step down as chairmen of the Election Commission in their districts, citing their own safety and tremendous pressure from both political camps. Bangkok City Clerk Ninnart Chalitanont said Bang Kapi district chief Sin Nitithadakul has already tendered his resignation to the Bangkok Election Commission. The rest also want to resign but are worried that the EC will be able to find replacements in time. She said the district chiefs did not want to face the same dilemma during the advance voting on Sunday. Ninnart said the EC would have to appoint new committees within 20 days before the election date if the rest were to resign.

Specialist
We have a saying in the US: "If you don't vote, you have no right whatsoever to complain about who got elected or what they do while in office." Robert Heinlein lived in Colorado Springs CO after World War II. He got involved in politics there for a while, as part of a push to put a REALLY corrupt political machine out of business. The key battle was won in court, in the aftermath of one stolen election, when they rounded up voters from a particular precinct who testified, in open court, under oath, that they voted AGAINST the machine candidate. There were more of those witnesses than there were votes reported from that precinct. Mr Voranoi has an outstanding piece up on the Post website on a related topic.
