sfinkz
Badabing (whose net is always at the ready): I've been off the bugs ever since it was pointed out to me that the critters were captured by fumigating with DDT (which convinced me and meant, in a desperate and misguided attempt at blending in, I had to refine my chili pepper eating trick). shygye
I think the bit about DDT is an Urban Legend. I read in the Bangkok Post that the grasshoppers are caught in a net. A net is setup on one side of a field. Then people start at the other end beating the bushes forcing the critters into the net. This method is a lot easier than finding and picking bugs on the ground and in the bushes. Crickets are raised in containers and some are exported to Japan. If you are still concerned, stick with the larvae.
ThaiGirlLover
Tried my first bug on my last visit - a cricket I believe. Overall, it was not too bad. Of course I had consumed several bottles of beer beforehand.
