Flashermac
About 13.1 per cent of women aged 15-49 believe their husband/partner has the right to hit or beat them, a survey has found. The survey was carried out by a survey by the National Statistical Office (NSO) and Unicef among 27,000 households nationwide between September and November 2012. If found that the women believe their husband or partner could hit them for neglecting their children (10.8 per cent), going out without telling their husband (4.3 per cent), when they argue with their husband (2 per cent), when they refuse to have sex with their husband (2 per cent) or when they burn food (1 per cent). http://www.nationmul...t-30234824.html
Guest
I am not disputing this survey although it seems lower than most countries, or maybe it's the choice of words by saying that women except it. But it gives the impression that domestic violence seems something unique to Thailand. In fact world wide, domestic violence effects 1 in 3 women at some point. Source : http://www.who.int/m...heets/fs239/en/ According to The World Heath Organization figures, Thailand is no better or worse than anywhere else in the world. Domestic violence effects women of all ages, nationality and background. There is a particular group of men the world over who like to throw their weight around with someone weaker be it verbal or physical.
khunsanuk
Hi, "There is a particular group of men the world over who like to throw their weight around with someone weaker be it verbal or physical." I don't think this is restricted to just being a male trait. Sanuk!
