The Airports of Thailand (AoT) plans to launch its so-called "Lady Parking" at six airports next week on August 12, the national Mother's Day.

AOT president Makin Petplai said that at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Lady Parking zone is offered at the whole third floor of the parking building 2.

The designated area can accommodate 450 cars. Women security guards will be on duty for the safety of the facilities users.

As there are about 100,000 airport service users, only women travelling alone or with children aged under 12 year olds are allowed to use the lady parking area.

The soft launch is due on Wednesday, while the official opening of the service next Tuesday, Aug 12.

Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai Airport and Phuket International Airport have so far completed arrangement of the Lady Parking areas while the work at Hat Yai airport and Chiang Mai airport is underway.

Don Muang Airport, one of Bangkok's two major airports, is upgrading the third floor of its seven-floor parking building to be lady parking areas to accommodate 200 cars.

Nothing to accommodate adult men with infant children?

Don't they realize this is sexist? Does a man have any less burden to carry his newborn child than a woman?

Get with it Thailand. Sexism is sexism. Especially considering half of your women are twice as strong as your fem/men.

Get with the times.

Ethiopian Airlines has one of those, she's basically a national superstar. Eventually her salary will allow her to buy a car, and she can use Lady Parking.

Now, as far as who can use Lady Parking, who's the arbiter of "Lady"? Lady ID card? Dress like a lady? If they have a timely and accurate method for finding the true lady in Thailand, I could really use help at Nana.

Reading, in Thailand, is not a requirement to get a license. You can be an uneducated inbred son of a blind tuk-tuk driver and his sister hairdresser cum horoscope reader. If you can guide grandpa's jalopy around the cones, you're licensed.

If confronted, just tell'em what Somchai does. "Sorry officer, Can't read."
