cavanami
They do the same in China, not only Thailand. There is a logic to the higher prices; consider a Thai citizen living here, working here and paying taxes (maybe). A farang, on a two week visit, pays no taxes and not working here. Thus = Thais pay lower, because they pay taxes (maybe)
Flashermac
So how come they tried to charge me the foreign price even after I showed them a government university ID, which meant I worked here and paid taxes?
Dexi
This small rhyme might sum it up...." I`m Thai and you`re not, your job is to pay and mine is to smile...a lot " .Anon.

Coss
And I can never be, not even if I became a Thai citizen and lived to be 100. Which, if you think about it, is a blessing.

Flashermac
Which, if you think about it, is a blessing. Tell that to Bill Heineke. He gave up his U.S. citizenship rather than keep paying a fortune in income taxes on money made in Thailand to a country he has no intention of ever living in again. Coss
Thai Price - Why farangs need to get over dual pricing http://www.thethaila...gs-dual-pricing Well Fluffykins, the issue, for long-time travellers such as myself, is not one of paying a small amount more than the local before me, the issue is having to pay 500 or 1000 per cent more than the locals. So many times, I've seen the eyes of the vendor light up with greed on my approach, mental calculations spinning wheels in their heads, visions of Mercedes Benz floating in their minds. The notion that Thai people are poor and Farangs are rich is just that, notional. One of the the reasons people holiday in Thailand is that it's cheap, If it wasn't we wouldn't come. If we're to pay Paris prices for things, we may as well go to Paris, it's certainly cleaner and the food is arguably better.
