Guest
bb: Maybe try: tools > internet options > programs > reset web settings This will reset to the default settings. So you will lose your home page etc.

Guest
Let's try another tactic on this. Between the last time it worked properly and the timeit broke, did you install any sowtware? Did you install any hardware and drivers? Did you hit the WindowsUpdate site? Here's something else you might try -- assuming your History folder isn't particularly important to you. Try renaming C:\Windows\History to so something else -- HHistory maybe. Then restart your system and see if Windows doesn't build a new History folder for you. Then check IE to see if the visited/unvisited links feature is working again. I'm speculating that something in the OS is confused about how to interpret the dates on the pages you've previously visited. Maybe the History folder is corrupted or there's something wrong with the way the registry is handling/handled by the invisible files in the H folder. Thinking that disappearing the old History folder and forcing a new one into existence might get these back in sync.
blueballs
Well I finally got it to work!!!! I went into history and deleted the oldest stuff(weeks 20 thru 45)not wanting to lose ALL my history and that did the trick. Originally when the problem arose I changed the history from 300 days to 400 days but that did'nt work! I still dont know if my problem would have fixed itself if I had gone to 100 days instead?.....So this begs the question does IE6 have a history memory limit, not in days(or they would'nt let you adjust it so high)but in accumulated data, and if this were the case why has nobody(that I've talked to)heard or seen this problem before???? Possibly my history file was corrupted in weeks 20 thru 45 (I'm assuming that because the deletion got rid of the problem)why did it take 20 more weeks for the problem to occur?....I'm just trying to make sense of it all. My mates tell me to fugetaboutit, but I'd like any input you guys may have! Once again thx to all!
