The Grace Revisited

It is always a dilemma for me whether or not to post about the really good places/deals I find while tromping about. Yes, I do feel I owe it to fellow sanukers. However, I am certain that the power of the internet and this board in particular can, um, ruin a good thing. I have been told by many in PMs and personally that they read my reviews on the paysite and here and then check things out themselves. I guess that is good, but too much of a good thing can, well, sour.

I think this is what happened with the Grace Hotel. About six months ago I went and wrote about the great times I had there. Others did too, so it wasn't just me. Then, the place became so popular it just became a mess IMO. I went twice and thought I was going to have to rumble my way out of the place. I didn't go back for three or so months...until Friday night.

I left Thermae around 2:15am and made the ever popular walk down Sukhumvit and then Soi 3 to the Grace. I had to wait in line in the Grace's hongnam about 5 minutes to take a piss. Uh-oh, not a good sign. It took about 15 minutes to wade through the throngs to get a beer. I was jostled, and stepped on, and pushed and a cigarette was jabbed into my elbow.

And, then the place really got crowded. Honestly, it was so bad you couldn't move. From about 2:30 - 3:00 the place was just packed. I considered leaving, but noticed more and more ladies coming in. Some I recognized as Thermae regulars.

I hung in there, and, amazingly, at about 3:15 or so, Moses parted the waters and the place actually developed some breathing room. And, the ladies kept coming in. I heard some muttering their disapproval at having to pay 40 baht to get in if they were unescorted by the way.

By 3:30, the place was fantastic. So many ladies and most were just aggressive as hell to get a man. The odds which initially stunk shifted in our favor and I bet at that point there were five or more ladies per guy. I know I was having problems shooing some away. But, one I did not, and she turned out to be a quite outstanding lady.

Of course, we did not get back to my place until after 4am and, that, I did not like. But, the price and performance were damn fine.

So, I guess the trick is to have a bite to eat and kill about an hour before going to the Grace.

Now, don't all of you go out and hit the Grace at 3:30 next weekend, or I won't pass on any of these helpful hints to you again. smile.gif

Really, I call 'em as I see 'em, and I had a truly great time in the Grace and I would once again recommend it to you for late-night sanuk - with the proviso you don't mind getting stampeded at first.

D'oh,

I must admit I am an afficianado of the place and I now regret the posts I have similarly made about the joint. It really reminds me of a frontier-town saloon with misfits and brigands from here to Timbuktu filling the place up. I also find it is perfect for finding lasses who are, shall we say, slightly "fuller-figured". Its not everyone's cup of chai, but as I am an extremely seedy and devious bugger with a penchant for the exotic, I love it. Thanks for your post Sarasin, I must say your reports are inspiring me towards joining the paysite.

Cheers

Jaga

And, thank you for your comments sir. The Grace certainly has a Jekyll-Hyde existence as far as I am concerned.

I don't go out as much as I used to after discovered the Wonderful World of Straight Ladies. Maybe once a week or less. I do try to maximize my time out by hitting as many spots as possible.

Then, I try to write a gogo bar review and a recount of the night's events for the paysite. Still, I like to give a watered-down version of the places I visited here. Guys out-of-town mostly and incoming soon seem to appreciate these updates.

What surprises me most is how the middle-eastern punters seem to have been swept away by that "2.00 a.m. white guys tidal wave". It must be at least 80 percent Nanaplaza/Thermae/Nana Disco spillover these days (spot even the Thermae staff have their late night cup there).

If they only changed the lighting. Neon tubes make such a lousy late night atmosphere.
