Can anyone give me some information or advice on opening an offshore bank account? I know that there are many out there, but which ones are the best to deal with?

Thanks guys,

It really depends on what nationality you are and what currency you want to deal in.

Brits tend to go for the Offshore Banking Businesses in Channel Islands and Isle of Man. All the big banks and Building Societies in England are there.

There may be some restrictions on some nationalities investing, usually due to requirements in your home country, but these are spelled out on the websites and they readily answer queries.

Check the Sunday Telegraph Financial Pages for the best interest rates, they vary greatly, then do a search on a web engine for ones you are interested in, if you find the onshore webpage there's usually a link to their offshore branch in there somewhere.

Try also www.csmltd.com/top_savings_rates.htm if the link still works

To open an account you need a letter from The Holy Ghost with the signature certified by J.C. himself!! Something to do with anti money laundering laws. After you've applied they usually let you know within 1 month whether your money is worthy enough to be kept by them.

Again this procedure varies from bank to bank and also depends on where the funds are coming from. If you rock up with a suitcae full of readies expect to be doing some explaining to the local boys in blue.

If it's transfered from an existing account with references from your bank it's more likely to be accepted.
