Here in Belgium the Thai community rents a huge party room, ask 600 Bt entry, and we all go. Actually its tomorrow nite in Brussels, we ( our group ) has a table of 25 reserved. There is Thai food, live orchestra, traditional dancing, Miss Thai election, dancing and lots of fun....... will end at about 4 AM as usual. think_too_mut Posted November 16, 2002 Author Report Share Posted November 16, 2002 Found that at Parramatta park about 15K people (Thais, farangs with Thai viwes, guests) gather for the festival. Starts 3pm, goes until 11pm. Food stalls, stage, dance...at 9pm, people walk to the Parramatta river and let their candles flow down the river. Will be going there this Saturday (Nov 23). In fact, the City Council is the sponsor of the manifestation. Has been for last 9 years. The river is not very big there, it's easy to stretch a water-saussage and stop all the khratongs 50-100 down the flow and collect them. There is also a Thai food festival and entertainment on at Darling Harbour, Sydney, on the Sunday from late morning till dark. I might head down to Sydney this weekend....... think_too_mut Posted November 19, 2002 Author Report Share Posted November 19, 2002 Yesterday, one of (Thai) girls who works at the Thai take-away near to where I work, asked me to join her for Loy Krathong at Darling Harbour on Sunday. She knows I know 100 Thai words and love Thailand. Maybe, that's enough to pass the entry test. Immediatelly, I dropped any plans to go to P'matta. I work at a major Australian Uni and was lucky enough to get a VIP pass to the last major celebration of Loy Kratong held here. Lots of perving and chatting up of nice women, good fun had by all.
