Guest
Zoot! Myself, I always enjoy it when the girl servicing me is cute. But what does that have to do with banking?
Guest
SS, the Q's are allways so long , at least if you got something half decent to stare at it makes the time pass a bit quicker , & I gotta say that it takes a long time to get sorted in LOS banks !! Guest
Umm...THAT one was a joke, too. "Servicing." Get it? Oh, well. (I hope this one doesn't repeat itself like that other one.) Mentors
I have accounts since years without problems. You need your passport. The best service gives Bangkok Bank, Thai Farmers Bank and Krung Thai Bank. If you open an account you must check that you can take money outside your account on nationwide; with a wrong bankbook there are some problems for this. The best service i get always from Krung Thai Bank. The Thai Farmers is ok too. For Me Bangkok Bank has not such a good service and the staff are rather unfriendly and imaginary. Same experience i had in Pattaya, Bangkok, Surat Thani, Sukothai. The interest rates are ridiculous low at the moment. Guest
Opening an account is no problem but to my understanding you need something more than a tourist Visa. I have accounts at three banks and recommend Thai Farmer over Bangkok Bank. Be aware that somethings can only be done at the branch you open the account (depositing foriegn checks for example) Also the policies vary from Bank to Bank. Anyway Thai Farmer is popular with foriegn residents. (I have a non-imigrant visa) quote: Originally posted by FlyPapillon: Morning Lads/Lasses. Can anyone tell me if its possible for a farang to open a bank account in Thailand? Someone told me they can't unless they have permanent residency, but I've also heard that you can. My girlfriend asked at two banks and one said "no" and the other "didn't know". If you can, is there a certain proceedure, and which bank is best? Krung Thai, TFB, Bangkok Bank? Thanks in advance for your advice.
