jitagawn
Being a professional painter fine artist for the past 30 years I am fascinated by the trompe'loeil "art marks one finds BENEATH the handrails at many of the BTS stations on BKK. To wit Phaya Thia,Sala Daeng,Nana and many others I am sure I have missed. This is a form of art I have practiced myself which means in FRENCH "to deceive the eye". These are shadows painted on the ascending steps OF THE STATIONS directly beneath the handrails that create the affect of a cast shadow under the rail itself from a light source directly overhead .While not diificult to do ,they are nonetheless skillfully articulated by air brush to the point they fade at the top into the adjoinng concrete. I am surely not alone in noticing these subtle and quirky urban renderings. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO PAINTED THESE SHADOWS? OR ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT THEM??? One would expect to find such musings in New York or maybe Paris but not BKK. They are subtle and a bit humorous for sure and I am sure 99% of the population miss them. Perhaps a local Thamasak student or such made them :: ...
