shygye
Which addons/extensions are you using? Maybe disable the extensions and see if the problem remains. Slow Problem
unit731
I got the disk. Mozilla Firefox 2. I have it on 2 Vista and one XP. Never any problems here. I think there are updates or upgrades I have received. I did loan the disk out to a friend with XP. And he immediately complained that Firefox 'screwed' up his computer and he uninstalled it. All I can state is that it runs fine on my 3 computers.
manaomaiminam
Check this page, has refs for many problems plus procedure for temporarily disabling extensions: http://www.blogsdna.com/430/9-fix-for-firefox- 3-crashes-hanging-problem.htm Sorry, for the format of the URL, but the editor clipped the URL the first time I added it. ALHOLK
Thank you, and also shyge, the links are very useful. I seems like I should back up to FF 2 until FF 3 becomes more stable. If I have to use MSIE more I will probably need psychiatric treatment. regards ALHOLK
CTO
For what it's worth I've had the same problem - also I did get rid of a lot of extensions that worked fine on Vs 2 - but Vs 3 hated them. Still freezes about once a day. VERY annoying
BJ_Blackowitz
FF3 is more stable for me then FF2 I do a lot of devellopment and found FF3 not only to be better but also more stable. a lot of the crashes You have might have to do with Memory Leaks in the website ( Javascript ) Extensions going beserk - check the memory Firefox uses in Windows Manager - disable unneeded extensions
ALHOLK
As I posted before, I see nothing that indicates a memory leak. I have the monitoring gadget on the gadget bar and it shows 100% CPU but nothing abnormal on memory usage. Furthermore it doesn'close properly. When I close it it disappears from the screen but the firefox.exe prcess continues to run. When I kill the process the CPU usage goes back to normal. It worked fine for a about 2 months but now it's totally useless. regards ALHOLK
shygye
FF3 is probably waiting for a website response. Clear the cache and history and any live bookmarks/RSS. Youcan also look under pipelining. You can tell FF3 to use multiple connections to speed thing up.
tartempion
I had this problem when running FF2, no more since I upgraded to FF3. I run Vista since 6 months, upgraded to SP1, no clue what the problem was.
