Democrats are going to vote on TWO charges against the president, charging Trump with “abuse of power” (pretty vague) and “obstruction of Congress” (for fighting their subpoenas in court, I guess). At best, both of those are flimsy, politically motivated and created out of thin air.. I guess they’re afraid was one wasn’t enough!

What’s interesting is the very thing the media isn’t talking about. There was a third charge, but they aren’t bringing it against him.

Democrats did not include bribery in the articles they put forward today.

Pretty odd, if you ask me. If you’ve been following this impeachment charade (then I’m sorry for you), then you know the entire case hinges on bribery.

This entire thing started because the Democrats accused Trump of trying to get Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden. They claim he withheld military aid in order to get them to do that.

That is what they’ve been calling bribery or a “quid-pro-quo.”

But why was that dropped from their charges?

Even in 1998, House Republicans voted against abuse of power in Clinton’s impeachment. They voted only for the criminal offenses of perjury and obstruction of justice (Clinton was accused of encouraging false statements in court).

No president has ever been impeached over non-crimes, until today. Democrats have entered into absurd-land.

Their kangaroo court is bringing shame to our Congress and our government.

No Republican would pass a lie detector test if they were asked if Trump has committed impeachable acts. So, this all comes down to "its not what you know its what you can prove" (and the prove standard is a smoking gun).

That's the impeachment argument is a nutshell. The script is already in play. The House will impeach, the Senate will acquit (the same thing was known ahead of time but in reverse in '98). The Republicans will sing the mantra of coup and overthrow ad naseum. The Dems will make a mess of explanation.

How this will all play out at election time no one knows for sure yet.

Flash and Steve.

If the proles had read the Mueller report, Trump wouldn't have just been removed, he would have been strung up.

The reason there are only two 'charges' is that, if they produced another long and detailed missive (which they've got, behind the headlines) , no one would read it and the public would support or not support, based on their "Gut". And to prevent a civil disturbance, the action against Trump has to be simple and easy to understand, without much lawyering to confuse the morons. This is so that a large cohort of folk, don't take to the streets when it's done.

i.e. your see Trump admit a crime, you know it happened, you see Trump deny hundreds of other crimes, you give him the benefit of the doubt, because no one has demonstrated to you that he did the other hundreds of crimes...

Photos of hand in Cookie Jar, confession that he took the cookies, crumbs on the corner of his mouth and shirt front, 27 witnesses that saw him do it. OK. Fifteen other empty Cookie Jars with his DNA on them, in them and 7 witnesses he's called SCUM!, What's this DNA anyway, prolly 'Did Not Attack'. So he couldn't have done it....

The public is and we've noted,  the progressive decline over the years, functionally illiterate, and lacking in common sense. That's why we have the phrase "only in America"

And further, this is a good example of Society, trying to control, Regional Groups/City Groups/Tribes because of the decline in educative standards, many people are now stuck at Tribal.

Trump is an un indicted co conspirator in the Cohen criminal conviction. That's a indisputable fact. That alone among a myriad of things, large and small is impeachable. With regards to Trump is what do you impeach him with because there are so many violations rather than is there an impeachable act.

I totally disagree with both the media and the Congress considering public opinion. Who give s a f*ck what the public thinks? It's either a violation or it isn't. Does public opinion matter in non Congressional, public trials? Why should it matter now? I disagreed with public opinion being against Impeachment being used by Democrats in the Clinton impeachment. It shouldn't matter one iota and its extremely dangerous. Guilt or innocence based in part on public opinion? What the f*ck is that?! How can we call ourselves a Republic based on equitable and fair laws and a popularity contest is part of the equation? Do we want Congresspersons and Senators basing their vote on the rule of law where the wind blows in their districts or state? Really?! Have we devolved to this? Matters of public policy? Fine. But the law? What?

President Truman, who wasn't exactly the most enlightened person on race in his political career prior to the highest office, signed Executive Order 9981 before the 1948 Democratic Convention.

Truman had been mentored in Kansas by people who were in the KKK  However, after hearing of Black WW2 vets being beaten and lynched he was appalled. He signed the Executive Order desegregating the military against the advice of the military high command. He did so out of conscience and he took a very, very big political hit over it. One of the main reasons the 1948 race was one of the closest in US history was in no large part due to his doing that.

Had the put a finger to the wind to gauge where the political wind blew and acted accordingly, he would have not signed it till after the election. When its a matter of law or conscience that saves lives, there is no gauging the political wind.

this made me laugh...

"Donald Trump is the worst cheat ever and he doesn't care who knows," Rick Reilly says as he describes a man he has known for 30 years, in his book Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump.

His book lists a number of infractions both of rules and etiquette. He kicks his ball so often caddies call him Pelé. He drives golf carts on to the greens.

Sportswriter Reilly says it's a bad look for golf. "Just when it was becoming cool with Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler we get this fat bozo cheating his ass off."

Coss, I believe most of Trump's hard core supporters to a large extent don't like a lot of the things he does and says, BUT they never thought in their wildest dreams they would get someone in the White House who would back their core beliefs. The implicit agreement they have with him is that the won't abandon him if he breaks all manner of laws, is immoral and unethical, in fact that's an attribute. Why? Because in their minds the country is in mortal danger and if they have to be lied to , cheated, some illegal things done in order to drag the rest of us to the goal, even if its kicking and screaming, so be it.

In time, we will all see that the goal justified the means. It's like those movies or TV shows (the show 24 had that as a recurring theme) where there are people in government who plot to overthrow the President because they believe to their core that he is destroying the country.

This is not too dissimilar.

I truly believe there are a great many people who would condone Trump and others if they falsified charges against Pelosi, AOC and others. Had them reviewed and were replaced with more conciliatory representatives.

Remember when Trump said he didn't know Lev and Igor?

---

The House Intelligence Committee is in possession of audio and video recordings and photographs provided to the committee by Lev Parnas, an associate of President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who reportedly played a key role in assisting him in his efforts to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and Ukraine, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.

The material submitted to the committee includes audio, video and photos that include Giuliani and Trump. It was unclear what the content depicts and the committees only began accessing the material last week.

"We have subpoenaed Mr. Parnas and Mr. [Igor] Fruman for their records. We would like them to fully comply with those subpoenas," House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff told CNN Sunday, with a committee spokesperson adding they would not elaborate beyond the chairman's comments.

An attorney for Parnas, Joseph A. Bondy, also declined to comment, directing ABC News to a statement released earlier in the day Sunday reading in part, "Mr. Parnas has vociferously and publicly asserted his wish to comply with his previously issued subpoena and to provide the House Intelligence Committee with truthful and important information that is in furtherance of justice, not to obstruct it."
