unit731
My Japanese is not that good. Nice video. They even had tuk-tuks back then. Seems like a quiet little city back in the 1930's. I couldn't recognize any of the streets.

Flashermac
Good to watch. How many years had you been here when that vid was shot Mac? I was the soundman, only since there wasn't any electricity it didn't work. Jorges Orgibet wrote that the "rot jek" were still here in the late 1940s and early '50s. After a night on the town, the slightly inebriated expats would have rickshaw races down the almost empty streets. Orgibet said the rickshaws were perfectly balanced. All you had to do was grab the poles and run with them. They'd hire the rickshaws, put the rickshaw boy in the back and race off down the street for a mile or more. The rickshaw boys would laugh their heads off at the crazy Farangs. Thais still laugh at us. p.s. That looks like Charoern Krung Road at the beginning, over by the Oriental Hotel. The big tree-lined street may be Sathorn, or possibly near Chitlada Palace.
