Mekong
Best Christmas song of all time, The name "The Pogues" is derived from the Gaelic Pog Mo Thoin, which in English means Kiss My Arse, a fact I am sure Fiery Jack will find interesting. Flashermac
Ah, I'd never connected the Pogues with the old Irish greeting. I wondered about their name, since I have Pogues in my ancestry way back. It is a Scottish name (same as Polk) and the Pogues in Northern Ireland are Prods, not Croppies. Their original band name was 'Pogue Mahone', pogue mahone being the anglicisation of the Irish póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my arse".
Mekong
Back in my dark and distant past during my drinking days I used to hang out / get wasted with Shane MacGowan in Pattaya, happy days, this song is his hazed memories of those days. Oh to be young again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HDttrKlLFc
