I read in todays Stick column that The Offshore bar and its sidekick, the Fish and Chips shop, have both closed?! Can anyone confirm this?

When I was in Bangkok for a while last year I did hear a rumour that Ray had had enough but was persauded to keep going because he would have nothing else to do! It seems then that he's decided nothing to do is better than keeping going? Or perhaps he was forced out, but I doubt it.

Stick also wrote that the former Ship Inn will open in its place. :dunno:

Guess I've always been a rolling stone.
But someday when my rolling days are over.
I will find a place to call my own.

Lonesome as the lost ship on the sea.
Even the lone stars they get lonesome.
Lonesome for a lone star man like me."

some days I have nothing to do, but it still takes me all day to do it.

Were they open? Unfortunately I'm not in town to check Sticks report.

Ray sold the Offshore to the owners of the place that is now a gogo bar on soi 23. I was there 1 day before Ray's last day. He had had enough of it for quite some time already! I was going there myself about once a month sometimes more as I liked the fresh chips he has. I have not been in since. But Ray said the new owners would renovate it and continue it more or less the same.

Bizarre ... I liked both the Ship Inn and the Offshore. If the bar closes, I have a colleague who will be made virtually homeless. :p

Just so one of the chippies is open!

Now there's a memory, what happened to that bloke? Did he end up in China or somewhere?
